The Gamma-ray Cherenkov Telescope (GCT) prototype had quite the introduction to the world at its 1 December inauguration. During testing just days before the event, it became the first Schwartzschild-Couder telescope to detect Cherenkov light and the first CTA prototype camera to collect data from air showers created by cosmic rays.
