Neutrinos from Blazar Jets: Open Issues and Multi-Messenger Synergies

February 24 @ 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM CET

In this webinar, Prof. Padovani will first give a quick overview of neutrino astrophysics and introduce the IceCube Observatory,  the largest neutrino detector in the world. Afterwards, he will address the very hot topic of the astronomical counterparts of IceCube neutrinos, concentrating on the first association with the blazar TXS 0506+056 and more recent events, which strengthen the case that at least some blazars should be neutrino sources. Finally, he will talk about the very strong synergies between neutrino astrophysics and very high-energy astrophysics, in particular the role that CTAO will play.
