On 1 March, Stephan Haid joined the CTAO as its Director of Administration. In this position he will be responsible for a broad range of administrative activities such as Human Resources, Finances, Procurement or Legal Services. As a member of the CTAO management team, Stephan has a key role in establishing the administrative and organizational framework of the CTAO European Research Infrastructure Consortium (CTAO ERIC).

Stephan Haid studied Business Administration, focusing on international and strategic management, and received his diploma in 2007 from the Free University of Berlin. Upon graduation, Stephan worked as an advisor for the German Development Service in Ghana. In 2009, he joined the Helmholtz Centre Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) in Hamburg as the Executive Assistant of the Director of Administration. Since 2013, Stephan has been the Head of Department for the “Organisation and Business Information Systems.“ The main focus of his work was the organizational development and the design and implementation of administrative structures, systems and processes, especially the development and implementation of the administrative processes and governance to meet the role of DESY as host and shareholder of the European XFEL GmbH and operator of the XFEL accelerator. Further, he was responsible for the development and operation of the business information systems (Enterprise Resources Planning System and Document Management System) and was the Risk Management Officer of the DESY Board of Directors.
